Project: Album Cover

Band leader Steve Dekrone had a black-and-white publicity photo of his band in front of a brick wall (see below). He liked the photo, but wanted something more dramatic for the album cover. Looking at the band, styled as they are and standing at that classic microphone, it's clear that this is 1940s era swing with 3-part vocal harmonies. After listening to songs like "Hepcats' Holiday" and "Palm Springs Jump", I imagined the band swinging through Southern California, palm trees swaying, a beautiful sunset and the whole evening ahead of them. To extend that theme, I gave the band name and album title a matching retro look.
